My Hero
Foo Fighters
This Foo Fighters track really resonated with me. It has a catchy hook and when you delve into the lyrics and discover the inspiration for Dave Grohl writing this song, it means so much more.
Dave Grohl didn’t have CF people in mind when writing this song. He did however wish to acknowledge the ‘average Joe’ who goes on with their business no matter what.
I feel this sums up people with CF. We get on with our lives, facing challenges as they come along.
I don’t know if my donor was an average Joe or not, but this person would not have been expecting to enable me to spend more time with family and friends, travel, drink good coffee…drink bad coffee.
That to me is a hero.
My Hero
Lyrics by Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel and Pat Smear
Too alarming now to talk about
Take your pictures down and shake it out
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He’s ordinary
Don’t the best of them bleed it out
While the rest of them peter out
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He’s ordinary
Kudos my hero
Leave them all the mess
You know my hero
The one that’s on
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He’s ordinary
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He’s ordinary
Foo Fighters were big on one of my physio playlists….always made physio time go so much quicker playing music.
